GlutenTrace works without an account. We do not ask for your name, email address or date of birth, and there is nothing to sign up for.

Reading an ingredients list happens on your phone. The photo of the label is processed on the device and is not uploaded anywhere, unless you choose to submit a product so the reading can be checked and added to the database.

Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple via the App Store, and we never receive or store your payment card details. Subscription status is managed for us by RevenueCat, which identifies your subscription with a random identifier. We do not send it your name, email address, or Apple ID.

Scanned barcodes

When you scan a product, the app sends the barcode and whether the product was found to our server. We store only the barcode, the result, the date, and how many times it was scanned that day. We do not store who scanned it, no device ID, no location and no time of day. We use it to see which products are in demand, so we can add them first, and to keep a copy of the product's ingredient list from Open Food Facts, so the app can still answer when Open Food Facts cannot be reached. The copy is Open Food Facts data (ODbL licence).

Your scan history is stored on your phone. Barcode lookups are sent to Open Food Facts to fetch the product, which means that service sees the barcode being looked up.

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and runs no advertising or tracking scripts. We do not sell data.
