Why we built it
We are a family with celiac disease close to us. The apps we tried told us a product was "safe" without telling us how they knew - and treated a voluntary "may contain traces" warning as if it meant something precise. It does not. So we built the app we wanted: one that shows its work, and says plainly when it does not know.
(Celiac disease is spelled "coeliac" outside the US - same condition.)

Where the data comes from
Product data comes from Open Food Facts, an open, community-maintained database, used under the Open Database License. Product photos are used under CC BY-SA. Ingredient lists change and databases lag behind - so the app tells you how old its information is, and says when it does not know instead of guessing.
